There has been a change recently with the Apple certifications. I was planning to study and take both the ACSP (Apple Certified Support Professional) and the ACMT (Apple Certified Mac Technician) exams in the near future, but it appears this is no longer possible for me. Normally, you could study on your own and take the test through PearsonVUE (like most certifications), but Apple has decided to only make these tests available by going through their official Apple Authorized Training Centers.
This means that instead of paying ~$250 per test, I'd now have to spend over $2000 to take the class first (I believe it's just a 3-5 day boot camp course) and then attempt the test. As much as I want to get more Apple Certifications, it's not really worth the money right now. I'm still interested in learning more about the Apple OS so I'm going to study a little and experiment with it. I'm just unable to get certified until Apple changes back to allowing us to get certified without having to take official classes.
To be clear, the ACA (Apple Certified Associate) certifications are still available so I will likely continue to get those certifications, but the higher level certifications will have to wait. Since I don't know if they will change back to PearsonVUE anytime soon, I will remove the ACSP and ACMT from my certification goals for now.
